The deal between you and MindSpring.
These terms set out the rules for using MindSpring — a free study search engine for students. By creating an account or using the site you agree to them. We've kept the language plain so it's actually readable.

1. Accepting these terms
By creating an account, ticking the box that says you agree to these terms, or otherwise using MindSpring (the "Service"), you enter into an agreement with the MindSpring team ("we", "us", "our"). If you don't agree with these terms, please don't use the Service.
If you're using MindSpring on behalf of a school, or a parent or guardian is agreeing on your behalf, then "you" means both you and that person or organisation, and they accept these terms too.
2. Who can use MindSpring
MindSpring is built for school students, including minors. If you are under the age of digital consent in your country (for example, under 13 in the US or under 16 in parts of the EU), you may only use the Service with the involvement and permission of a parent, guardian, or teacher.
You must give accurate information when you sign up and keep it reasonably up to date. You're responsible for anything that happens under your account.
3. What MindSpring is
MindSpring helps you find study resources across school subjects. You type a topic or question, and the Service returns relevant links, along with AI-generated summaries and, optionally, AI-generated practice quizzes. You can save resources to your library and track a light study profile.
MindSpring is a study aid. It is not a school, a tutor, an exam board, or a substitute for your teacher or official course materials. It does not award grades or qualifications.
4. Your account
- You can browse and search without an account, but some features (saving resources, quizzes, syncing across devices) require you to sign in.
- You can sign in with Google or with an email address and password. Passwords are handled by Google Firebase Authentication — we never see or store them.
- Keep your login details private. Tell us promptly if you think someone else is using your account.
- One account is meant for one person. Don't share credentials or create accounts to get around usage limits.
5. Acceptable use
Please use MindSpring for genuine, lawful study. You agree not to:
- Break the law, infringe others' rights, or use the Service to harm anyone.
- Try to break, overload, probe, scrape, or reverse-engineer the Service, or get around its security or usage limits.
- Use automated tools to hammer the search or quiz features.
- Submit content that is hateful, harassing, sexual, or otherwise inappropriate for a student study tool.
- Attempt to access other users' accounts or data.
- Misrepresent AI-generated study material as your own original work where doing so would breach your school's academic-honesty rules.
6. Usage limits & promo codes
MindSpring is free and runs on limited resources, so it applies fair-use limits — for example a weekly and monthly cap on searches and on practice quizzes. These limits reset on a regular schedule and may change over time.
We may issue promo codes that adjust or lift these limits for particular accounts. Promo codes are personal to your account, may be withdrawn or expire, and must not be shared, sold, or used in a way we didn't intend. We can disable a code or an account that abuses them.
7. AI-generated content
Search summaries and practice quizzes are produced by a generative-AI model (Google's Gemini, via Firebase AI Logic). AI can be wrong, incomplete, or out of date, and it can occasionally state something false with confidence.
Always double-check anything important against your textbook, your teacher, or an authoritative source before relying on it — especially for exam preparation. MindSpring is not responsible for academic outcomes based on AI-generated material, and using it does not guarantee any particular result.
8. Intellectual property
MindSpring's name, design, and the software behind it belong to us. You may use the Service for your personal study, but you may not copy, resell, or redistribute the Service itself.
Linked resources belong to their respective owners, and your use of them is governed by their terms, not ours. Anything you create on the Service (such as your saved library) stays yours.
9. Third-party links & services
Search results link out to third-party websites we don't control. We're not responsible for their content, accuracy, availability, or their privacy and safety practices. Follow external links at your own discretion.
The Service also relies on third-party providers (such as Google Firebase and Google's AI services) to function; their handling of data is described in our Privacy Policy.
10. Disclaimers
MindSpring is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We don't promise that the Service will always be available, uninterrupted, error-free, or that results and quizzes will be accurate or suitable for your particular needs.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, MindSpring and its team won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service, including reliance on AI-generated content. Because MindSpring is provided free of charge, our total liability to you is limited to the extent permitted by law. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that can't be limited under the law that applies to you.
12. Suspension & termination
You can stop using MindSpring at any time and ask us to delete your account (see the Privacy Policy for how). We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, misuse the Service, or where we need to for legal, security, or operational reasons. We may also discontinue features, or the whole Service, as a free product evolves.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product changes. When we make material changes, we'll update the "last updated" date above and, where appropriate, note it on the site. Continuing to use MindSpring after a change means you accept the revised terms.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws applicable where the MindSpring team operates, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Nothing here removes any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have under the law of your own country.
